URLsy: The Complete Guide to Branded Links, QR Codes, and Link Analytics

Shorten URLs, create QR codes, schedule availability, and more — powered by the URLsy add-on.

Written by Serena Edwards

URLsy is an optional add-on that pairs seamlessly with Enrollsy. With it, you can shorten long enrollment URLs, generate QR codes, schedule when a link goes live, expire it automatically, and see exactly who clicked and when.

With URLsy, you have the ability to:

  • Branded short links

  • Automatic QR codes

  • Password-protected links

  • Expiring links

  • Scheduled availability

  • Smart organization (group links by program, season, or team)

  • Click analytics (track who clicked and when)

URLsy is an add-on service available. After your first four free links, each additional link + QR code costs $1.00. Find out more here (and sign up).

How to Create a Link

To create a link.

Step 1 - Open the Create Link Window

What it does: Opens the link creation window so you can build a new short link.

How to set it up:

  1. If you haven't created any links yet, click the Create Link button in the center of the screen.

  2. If you've already created at least one link, click the + button in the upper-right corner of the screen.

What to know: You can return to this screen any time to add additional links. Each new link counts toward your monthly URLsy total.

Step 2 - Add the URL and Name

What it does: Captures the long destination URL and gives your short link an internal name.

How to set it up:

  1. Paste your long URL into the Paste your long URL here field.

  2. In the Name field, enter a clear, recognizable label (e.g., Spring Campaign).

  3. Click outside the field to confirm.

Tips: The name you enter appears on calendar reminders that link viewers receive, so choose something readable and audience-friendly. Need help copying a URL from your browser? See the Need Help Copying a URL? dropdown below.

Computer Browser

The following method works on most computer browsers.

1 - Click the Address Bar: Click once on the text at the very top of your browser window. This usually highlights the entire URL in blue.

  • Tip: If it doesn't highlight everything, triple-click the text.

2 - Copy the Link:

  • Keyboard Shortcut: Press Ctrl + C (Windows/ChromeOS) or Command + C (Mac).

  • Right-Click: Right-click the highlighted text and select Copy.

Mobile Browser

  1. Long Press: Tap and hold the address bar at the top (or bottom) of the screen. A menu should pop up with the Copy option.

  2. Share Icon: Alternatively, tap the Share icon (a square with an upward arrow on iOS, or three connected dots on Android) and select Copy Link.

What to do next

  1. Click into the box labeled Paste your long URL here.

  2. Press Ctrl + V (or Command + V) to paste it.

  3. Give it a name and hit Create Link to shorten it!

Step 3 - Add a Custom Alias (Optional)

What it does: Replaces the random string at the end of your short link with a branded, readable word or phrase — so urlsy.io/x9k2qz becomes urlsy.io/summer-sale.

How to set it up:

  1. In the Custom alias field, type a short word or phrase (e.g., summer-sale, meeting-invite, sports-camp).

  2. Wait for the "Slug is available!" confirmation to appear below the field.

  3. If the alias is taken, try a variation (add a year, dash, or descriptor).

When to use it:

  • Marketing campaigns where the link itself needs to look intentional and on-brand.

  • Printed materials, flyers, or signage where people may need to type the URL manually.

  • QR codes where the visible link reinforces the campaign name.

Step 4 - Add a Note (Optional)

What it does: Attaches a short description to your link that provides context beyond the link name — useful both for your internal reference and for what your audience sees in calendar reminders.

How to set it up:

  1. Click into the Add a short note (optional) field.

  2. Enter a brief description (e.g., "Sports camp available for kids ages 8-12" or "Version A for Email").

  3. Click outside the field to save.

When to use it:

  • Internal reference: Reminding yourself why the link was created, who it was sent to, or what the specific goal was.

  • Calendar context: This note appears in calendar reminders for link viewers, so it doubles as a meeting agenda or a preview of what's behind the link.

  • A/B testing: Distinguishing between multiple versions of similar links (e.g., "Version A for Email" vs. "Version B for SMS").

Step 5 - Add Tags (Optional)

What it does: Groups related links together with labels (think of them as folders or filters) so you can quickly find every link tied to a project, platform, or campaign.

How to set it up:

  1. Click into the Add tags (optional) field.

  2. Type your desired label (e.g., sports, camps, teens).

  3. Press Enter or Comma to turn the text into a tag.

  4. Repeat for as many tags as you need before clicking Create Link.

add tags in Enrollsy's add-on URLsy

When to use it:

  • Categorization: Labeling links by project, client, season, or platform (e.g., Social Media, Q4 Campaign, Internal).

  • Filtering: Later on, clicking a tag instantly surfaces every link associated with it, rather than scrolling through your full list.

  • Multi-tagging: A single link can belong to several categories (e.g., a sports link can also be tagged summer and teens).

💡 Pro Tip: If you're running an ad campaign, tag by platform (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn) so you can compare how your different links perform in Analytics.

Step 6 - Password Protect (Optional)

What it does: Restricts access to your link so only people with the password can view the destination.

How to set it up:

  1. Check the Password protect this link box.

  2. Enter your chosen password in the field that appears.

  3. Share the password with your intended audience separately from the link itself.

When to use it: Whenever you're sharing sensitive material — internal documents, gated previews, paid resources, or anything that shouldn't be public even if the link gets forwarded.

Step 7 - Set an Expiration Date (Optional)

What it does: Acts as a built-in "self-destruct" timer — the link automatically expires at a date and time you choose.

How to set it up:

  1. Check the Set expiration date box.

  2. Select the exact date and time the link should stop working.

  3. (Optional) Check Add contact info for expired links to display a branded "Expired" page with the following fields:

    • Company Name & Contact Info: Add a contact email and/or phone number.

    • Link URL & Link Text: Point visitors to an alternative destination (e.g., your homepage or waitlist) using a clickable label.

    • Message for expired link: Add a short custom message explaining why the link is no longer active.

When to use it:

  • Flash sales, limited-time coupons, or early-bird registrations.

  • Sensitive files you only want accessible for a short window (e.g., 24–48 hours).

  • Any campaign where you want to recover late traffic with a friendly "Expired" page instead of a dead-end error.

Using Expiration Date & Schedule Availability together

You can actually use both at once to create a specific "Window of Opportunity." For example, you could schedule a link to become active on Friday morning and set it to expire Sunday at midnight.

Step 8 - Schedule an Availability Date (Optional)

What it does: Functions as a "Go Live" timer — the link exists immediately, but the destination won't be reachable until the date and time you choose.

How to set it up:

  1. Check the Schedule Availability Date box.

  2. Select the future date and time the link should activate.

  3. (Optional) Upload a Logo to brand the "Coming Soon" countdown page that visitors see before the link goes live.

When to use it:

  • Coordinating a social media launch, email blast, or product reveal so no one sees the content too early.

  • Building anticipation with a branded countdown page that displays your logo and the time remaining.

  • Pairing with Set Expiration Date to create a precise "window of opportunity" (e.g., a link that goes live Friday morning and expires Sunday at midnight).

Upload a Logo for the Countdown Page (Optional)

What it does: Brands the "Coming Soon" countdown page that visitors see if they click your link before the scheduled launch date.

How to set it up:

  1. In the Logo (optional) field, upload a PNG or JPG of your logo.

  2. Save your link. Visitors who click before the launch time will see a branded countdown page with your logo, the time remaining, and a "Set a Reminder" option (Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Calendar).

When to use it:

  • Building anticipation for a product launch, email campaign, or registration opening.

  • Reinforcing trust with returning visitors who recognize your brand.

  • Capturing soft interest with the built-in calendar reminder buttons so visitors come back when the link goes live.

  • Download QR code: Click the QR icon in the bottom-left of the card.

  • Preview: Click the link itself (e.g., urlsy.io/sports-camp) to see how the destination page looks.

How to Organize Links

Once you have more than a handful of links, folders make them much easier to find. Group by program, client, season, or campaign — whatever suits your workflow.

1. Create a Folder

There are two ways to create a folder:

  • The Main Button: Click the large blue New Folder button in the center of the page if you haven't created any folders yet.

  • The Plus Icon: Click the blue "+" circle in the top right corner of the screen.

Once you click either, a pop-up will appear asking you to Name your folder (e.g., "Social Media Ads" or "Client X"). Hit Create and your folder will appear on the dashboard.

2. Move Links into the Folder

To move links, you’ll need to head back to your Links dashboard. Here is the standard process:

  • Find the link you want to move and click the Move icon next to it.

  • Select the folder from the list of folders

On the Links page, the folders will show as clickable tabs at the top.

Analytics

The Analytics page serves as your command center for tracking how your links are performing in the real world. Based on your current view, here is a breakdown of how it works:

1. High-Level Overview

The main dashboard shows individual cards for each link you've created, such as your Sports Camp and Open Enrollment links. Each card displays:

  • Click Count: The large number (e.g., 3 clicks) shows the total engagement since the link was created.

  • Timestamp: The date and time the link was last generated or modified.

  • Short URL: The exact link you shared with your audience.

  • Stats Button: Access more granular data.

2. Deep-Dive Statistics

By clicking the Stats button on any specific link card, you can access more granular data. This includes the following sections:

Performance Overview

At the top, you'll see four key metrics that summarize the link's health:

  • Total Clicks: The absolute number of times the link has been clicked.

  • Avg Daily: Your average engagement over time.

  • Peak Day: The highest number of clicks received in a single day.

  • Active Days: How many unique days the link has received at least one click.

Clicks Over Time (Last 30 Days)

This bar chart provides a chronological view of your traffic.

  • The x-axis lists the days of the month (e.g., March 1 through March 30).

  • The blue bars indicate activity.

Traffic by Device

This circular "donut" chart tells you what hardware your audience is using. This is crucial for knowing if your destination page needs to be mobile-optimized:

  • Mobile: Users clicking from phones.

  • Desktop: Users using computers.

  • Tablet: Users accessing the link from a tablet

Link Info

The bottom-right corner acts as a reference panel, showing you the Short URL (urlsy.io/sports-camp), the exact date and time it was Created, and the Original URL (the long Enrollsy link) it points to.
